In Designing your home,
instead of picking a floor plan
from the archives, I will focus
on designing a series of
spaces that you will actually
enjoy using, because they will
work to suit the way you live.
People all have different
needs, so why do we think
there is a one size fits all
solution for our housing?
SUN: The earth needs the sun
to live and so do we. The sun
provides us warmth, food, and
good health; therefore,
thinking about the sun from
the beginning of the process
is imperative. To those of us
who live in cold climates, we
understand how south facing
glass means less money we
have to dish out in heating
costs. My goal is to design
homes that a person can live
in without turning on a light
switch in the daytime.
TIMBER FRAME: When I plan a
timber frame home, space is
defined and created first and
foremost by the beautiful timbers.
Interior walls are typically
non-load bearing, and therefore
the plan becomes versatile enough
to change while your life changes.
Timber frame homes are different
from stick built homes and require
specific design talents and details
to make them successful.
EFFICIENCY: My primary
objective in creating spaces for my
clients is to think about efficiency.
In saving square footage, one
saves short term on materials and
labor during construction, and long
term on energy consumption and
peace of comfort. In being
selective on square footage, we
are being responsible stewards of
the planet. A little or a lot of
planning will save tons of
frustration for everyone.
MATERIALS: Building a timber
frame allows you the advantage of
building green. Timbers are cut
from sustainable forests and the
fasteners are made of oak instead
of metals.

ACCESSORIES: Timber framing
can also be done on additions,
porches, entryways, trusses for the
roof, and other applications. A
great way to add to your existing
home may be to incorporate an
addition. Whether it be a master
suite that you have always wanted,
a kitchen and breakfast nook, or a
great room, I can design you a
space that you will enjoy always.
I am happy to take on any design
challenge that you can think of.
What I bring to the table is only
enhanced by what the customer's
imagination brings.
I would love to help you with any
and all of your residential design
needs and challenges.
